Lifeforms & Landmarks

The works in this exhibition depict the ecosystem not in a scientific but in an intuitive way. They blur the lines between the oceanic, earth and animal worlds to create work that depicts an idealistic and imaginative environment.

The video installation creates an illusion of an underwater world that the viewer can walk through, blurring the distinctions between the everyday and the constructed world.

The works draw on scientific research and imagery to inform the end result and several science experts collaborated with Frieda on a number of projects throughout the previous years.

I Search for Lost Worlds

This work is a unique video installation for this exhibition and mixes footage of endangered species of fish filmed in an aquarium in Tenerife accompanied by a soundtrack of a birdsong from a South American Rainforest. The skeletal images of dinosaurs, reptiles and birds are screen-printed on rotating perspex structures through which the video is projected to suggest our evolving world which is constantly changing and adapting to environmental circumstances.
