'ENGAGE' Aoife Barrett and Frieda Meaney
This two-person show features work by artists Frieda Meaney and Aoife Barrett.
In this body of work both artists delve into the past and explore different layers of prehistory. Frieda Meaney looks to Darwin’s theory of evolution as a starting-point and at the many remarkable creatures that have evolved over the past millennia. She creates new landscapes for these primitive creatures through the layering of screen-printed images onto transparent materials on the painted surface. These extinct creatures defy the hostile world around them and manage to survive.
